Body-Based Psychotherapy on the Sunshine Coast

A different kind of psychotherapy — one that includes the body
Body-based psychotherapy is a gentle, trauma-informed approach that recognises that our experiences are not only held in our thoughts, but also in our bodies. While talking can bring insight and understanding, many people notice that insight alone doesn’t always create lasting change.

This work offers a slower, more attuned way of listening — to sensations, emotions, and patterns that arise within the body — supporting healing that feels integrated rather than forced.

When body‑based psychotherapy may be helpful:
You might be drawn to body‑based psychotherapy if you:
-
Feel stuck despite having insight or having tried talk therapy before
-
Experience anxiety, stress, or overwhelm physically
-
Feel disconnected, numb, or not fully present in your body
-
Carry a sense of unease without a clear story or reason
-
Notice old patterns repeating even when you understand them

This approach is especially supportive when experiences have been overwhelming, prolonged, or difficult to put into words.

What makes body‑based psychotherapy different?
Rather than focusing solely on analysing thoughts or behaviours, body‑based psychotherapy gently includes:
-
Awareness of bodily sensations and emotional states
-
Nervous system regulation and pacing
-
Breathwork to support regulation, presence, and core clearing
-
Moment‑to‑moment attunement to what is happening inside you
-
A collaborative, relational therapeutic process
Nothing is forced. There is no need to relive or retell experiences before your system is ready. The work unfolds at a pace that supports safety, choice, and agency.

How sessions work
Sessions are conversational and relational, while also allowing space to notice what is happening internally — such as sensations, impulses, emotions, or shifts in your body.
At times, this may involve pausing, slowing down, or gently orienting to what feels supportive in the present moment. You remain in control of what is explored, and we work together to follow what feels most alive and meaningful for you.
This is not bodywork, and there is no physical touch. The body is included through awareness, language, and presence.

About my approach
I am a psychotherapist offering body‑based psychotherapy on the Sunshine Coast. My work is grounded, compassionate, trauma‑informed and experienced, integrating mind–body understanding with relational depth.
As part of this work, I may integrate breathwork as a supportive tool for nervous system regulation and core clearing. Breath is used gently and intentionally, always in service of safety, choice, and attunement — never to push, override, or bypass what is present.
I work with adults who are seeking a more embodied, holistic form of psychotherapy — particularly those who sense that something important lies beyond words alone.
